My Little Mason Jar

I've started a business called "My Little Mason Jar" selling handcrafted baby blankets and other baby-centered items (nursing covers, wipe cases, burp cloths, bibs, etc). I don't have much listed just yet but I will be adding many more items soon!! You should all go "like" my facebook page! =)

It's been a while

It's been a while since I've posted.

I can honestly say that this having a baby thing takes up way more time than I ever imagined! And I'm not even back to work yet! It's going to be much worse once I am.

But I'm loving every last second of being this boys mommy.

Right now, we are in Texas. Just me and Mase. Unfortunately. Daddy is in Miami for work this week so we took the opportunity to fly out here to meet some family that otherwise wouldn't get to meet Mase for a very long time.

It's been really great so far. And we've still got so many more people to see.

I'm not going to spend much time blogging right now, but I will share my favorite photo of the trip so far.

This is Mase getting a bath by Menna (my mom) and Nena (Matt's mom).......

Rules are NOT meant to be broken

I really believe rules are in place for a reason.

They bring order to chaos. They provide boundaries and teach people to respect authority.

But who makes the rules anyways??

We certainly did not make this rule.

And the rule has changed drastically and many times since I was a baby.

So, needlesstosay, Matt & I broke a rule. And we'll continue to break it because it works for us.

And at this point anything that works for us and saves us a bit of sanity is totally worth breaking a rule for!

We put Mason to sleep on his tummy. And he's going down so much easier and sleeping for longer stretches. Hooray!!!

Side note: he's really strong and can lift his head very easily. I was more worried with him on his back because he spits up so much.

Today...

Today I will nurse my little man. Again and again and again.
Today I will attempt to clean my house.
Today I will finish the laundry I started yesterday.
Today I will do a little bit of grocery shopping.
Today I will read my Bible and pray.
Today I will start a new project--I'm making a maxi skirt.
Today I will pick up my in-laws from the airport.
Today I will be thankful for another today.

One Month Today

Our little man is one month old today! Where has the time gone?!

We have finally begun to get our schedules aligned. He's been having much more alert time during the day and less awake time at night, which is simply amazing! Until about a week ago I wondered if this was even possible! ;-)

Mason wakes up 2-3 times a night to nurse, and typically wakes up for the day between 8 and 9 am. At this time we'll spend a couple hours wide awake. He isn't talking yet, but he is usually very focused on my mouth when I'm talking.

He seems to love bathtime so far. If he's fussy when we get him into the water, it doesn't last long at all.

At the very beginning of his bath yesterday, Matt put him in the tub and he immediately peed! It was hilarious!  I'm also beginning to realize that being the mother of a boy means that I'll be dealing with pee often. ha!

We have officially switched over to cloth diapers 100%! I'm so excited about this. Weird, I know, but I am. We're using BumGenius diapers and I love them! They're so easy to use. And I've already noticed a difference in his little hiney not being so red. YAY!

1 month stats:
Weight: 8 lbs 9 oz (2 lbs 6 oz gained in 2 weeks!)
Height: 21 inches long
Clothing size: Newborn still and they're still mostly too big aside from anything with footsies--he's quite a long and lanky little boy. ;-)

Mason is growing like a weed and changing every day!

I can't wait to see his little personality begin to come out.

We just love our boy and couldn't be happier. We thank God for blessing us with Mason Paul every single day.

A boy and his dog

My family grew up with Boxers. They're such great family dogs and generally love kids. Our boxer, Brownie, loved all 3 of us but loved my brother the most.

Matt & I got our boxer, Sophie Grace, the weekend we got home together after our honeymoon. I was so excited to get her because they're such great dogs and I knew one day when we had kids of our own that she would always love and protect them.

Let me just tell you, I was right.

Sophie LOVES this boy. It's so incredibly sweet.

She's always close by. If he cries, she's the first one up checking on him (only because she's quicker than we are!) If he's nursing, she sticks close by and if he falls asleep or stops nursing, she licks his head to urge him to eat. Lol! (Boxers are notorious for nudging their babies like this--we have to watch her to make sure she doesn't nudge him too hard.) And she even likes to sleep on the floor in his bedroom. She used to sleep in bed with us, and even now she'll usually end up back with us but I know once he's in a toddler bed she'll desert us to sleep with him.

I love watching her with him. And someday I'll love watching him with her as well. <3
